Archos 3G USB stick

Post by wsantos »

Couldn't find a topic that discussed the use of Archos 3G USB stick with G8 devices so I started one.
I took a punt last month and bought it on Amazon UK (£40) and it is absolutely fantastic!

I'm using it with A101 G8 and it worked straight off the box. I signed up for unlimited data with 3 Network (£3 add-on for those who are on a contact) and lost the ability to tether with my HTC Desire. Since Wifi sucks from my house's 3rd floor I thought it would great to hook my 101 to 3g. Its great when you're out the house, commuting, etc.

So there you go, for those who want to use your data plan with your G8 the USB stick is a very good choice. It works with any SIM card from any network and the speed is very good (I get an average 2mb download on 3).

By the way it works very well with any Windows laptop, just plug and play and the software that comes with it has been very well designed.

All in all you get a lot for 40 quid and it is certainly one of the best Archos products to date.

So You're 100% sure it will work on my Archos G8 101 IT?
Which update You've got?
I have 2.4.83 (2.2.1 android)
i want to be 100% sure it will work.
Only here on this forum i found someone saying it actually works for G8 tablets.
Thanks.

Yep, it works just fine. I don't have my Archos here with me now but it is running the latest firmware version.
All you have to do is plug in the 3G dongle and go to Mobile Networks and allow data, just like on any 2.2 android handset.

The SIM card should pick up on the network it is registered for automatically. If not you can go to Select Networks to give it a hand.

Let me know if you find any troubles.
