I doubt it as the software compatibility states it works with Microsoft Windows Mobile. It might work with your laptop or desktop Windows XP or Vista system, but an Android device is doubtful.

How does anyone else feel about this GPS device working with a Archos Internet Tablet (gen 8)?

The "GLOBALSAT BT-359CS BT359CS bluetooth GPS" was mentioned to work and that is what I'm planning on getting. Very cheap if you are willing to off ebay sellers. Otherwise $40 off amazon I think.

Any special set up or is it just plug and immediately play with the iBlue737A+: i-Blue 737A+ Bluetooth GPS Receiver on Amazon.com?

How is the battery life?

How bulky is it to carry both the A70 and this unit together?

Would there perhaps be a way to utilize a cellphone's integrated GPS with the Archos rather than carrying another thing around with me?

This is my GPS receiver.

I simply leave extGPS running and bluetooth enabled and drop it in my bag, i no longer have to touch it since and it's turning out that running GPS doesn't actually drain the battery that much. When i want to go online, i tap the tether icon on the command bar. When i run the google maps app, the archos automatically connects to the nokia's GPS without needing to be prompted.

Since i now have access to the phone's internet and gps, all i need now is a way to access the phones SMS function from the archos :D

I really like your GPS receiver. :-)

I'm not sure on the details, though, of how you got it running. When I went to the Android Marketplace and searched for extGPS it didn't show up as an application.

OK, a Google search found it, but when I try to download it my HTC EVO says its not valid for the phone. I used Windows and found the list of supported phone and my Android HTC is not on the list. Sigh.

Bert.

Who are they? May I find the Android version, if I knew more about them. :-)

Ok, so since I'm using a good old-fashioned flip-phone (I' probably one of the few computer engineering majors with a simple phone lol), a Sony Ericsson Equinox, I suppose this is out of the question for me.

Found them but they have nothing publically available for Android.

Instead I found a review for an Android version, but it's a paid application. I have yet to try it.

I'm trying to decide which one to get. I've never owned a GPS device, so I'm not sure what to look for.
Here are some good priced ones on amazon:

Holux M-1000 Wireless Bluetooth GPS Receiver - $43
http://www.amazon.com/Holux-M-1000-Wire ... 2O8TQZU4UA

Visiontac VGPS-700 Bluetooth GPS Receiver (SiRF III) (Auto Power-on/off Cable Included) - $35
http://www.amazon.com/Visiontac-VGPS-70 ... 2O8TQZU4UA

SB-369: Gosget SB-369 Bluetooth GPS Receiver (SiRF III, IP-54 Dust and Splash Resistant) - $30
http://www.amazon.com/SB-369-Gosget-Blu ... 2O8TQZU4UA

TomTom Bluetooth GPS Receiver for USA and Canada - $19

I bought the TomTom and can confirm it pairs and connects w/4.3 on 2.2. Google Navigation recognized it right away. I'm in the process of getting CoPilot but having problems with the activation. Once I get that sorted out I can try it out without an internet connection. I don't know anything about GPS but I figured it was cheap and worth trying.
