I picked up this GPS receiver:

http://www.wondeproud.com/Products_Deta ... ClassName=

I tried it when I bought it, and it worked right away. Now that I've got it home I'm having trouble.
It detects it in the bluetooth settings, but it says "paired but not connected" (says that for my cell phone too)

any ideas?
Thanks

turn on the navigation or map software to have it connect. if it still isn't working, go to the appstore and install "bluetooth gps".

Got the TomTom and copilot working on a 43. No need for additional after you upgrade to froyo. Make sure you set it up both in Wireless Settings and in Location.

I resolved the problem
Where I had the gps receiver positioned, it wasn't picking up the satellites. Once I moved it around it was much better.

thanks for replies

One question about the Tomtom GPS from above, while it says 'for USA and Canada' does that mean it won't work outside of USA/Canada? I'm confused because its suppose to be global, right?

If it works globally, $19 is a real bargain.

i read somewhere in the forum that someone in argentina was using it... the tomtom that is... so im guessing yes, it works globally.

I live on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. I bought the GlobalSat BT-359 a week or so ago. So far I've only used it with Google Maps. It found me in my home town of Hanapepe and followed me walking down the street with my A70S.

Yesterday afternoon, 31 Dec, I was out shopping, sightseeing and dining with a friend. I took the BT-359 and my A70S with me in my ScotteVest. The BT-359 quickly found us in a park eating lunch in Kaloa town via Google Maps.

Still quite satisfied with my $18 investment. :)

Got it from ebay.com. Now $19 - best price. Here's a link: Link.

Seems to work just fine.

The "GLOBALSAT BT-359CS BT359CS bluetooth GPS" was mentioned to work and that is what I'm planning on getting. Very cheap if you are willing to off ebay sellers. Otherwise $40 off amazon I think.

I have one of these - I got it new for $18 from ebay. Has worked flawlessly with my A70

I have the GLOBALSAT BT-359 and when I try to connect it to my Archos 70 250gb all I get is the message "Paired but not connected". Any ideas?

That's what I get also. Once I open copilot then it shows as connected. I'd guess any app that uses the GPS unit will fo the same.

That's the rub and why I got the GPS Assist App: Until you bring up an App which uses GPS it is not connected.

Just received the BTGP-38KM, cheap, from EBAY , and has a built in offline tracker with lots of POI memory ....
Looks cool. Since i will be using it for bicycling, I don't even have to bother powering the A43IT while I am cycling, based ont the fact that my objective is mainly to measure distances and speed to be looked at on Google map
