It took me about 8 goes to get the captcha right in order to register. It is almost impossible to see the letters, the absolute worst one I have seen. I was just about to give up and go to another forum. I suggest you get rid of it, or change to another system

-Edited many months later, cos I noticed I spelt CAPTCHA wrong! Such a weird word

no chance there mate, you can thank the scumbags that constantly flood the forums with spam, now we only get the idiots from aesoft scam ware occasionaly post. your new and didnt see the amount of spam we had before - it made moderation on this forum a real headache and virtually a 24 hr job - members were getting sick to death of trolling though it as well, my inbox was constantly full of pms telling me about spam. ive just checked the captca after reading and yes its difficult to read, but just refresh the image until you can - this is excatly what we need, and hopefully we will get more soon.

I have to agree it is too difficult to see what is on the screen.

I just signed up, and I had three people standing around my computer guessing what the captcha was supposed to be.
Took several tries to get it right, I was just lucky we got it on the 3rd try.

Way too difficult to use.

Regards
P.

You only have to do it once to register, then you aren't bothered with it again. Man up.

Its not even difficult to register now
its mission impossible
Looks like the site doesnt want new members anymore

This system is really terrible

I know you only have to do it once but it takes more then 45 attempts to be able to guess the correct code.
1 thing that might help is show how many characters are used. That way you know you missed one.

My Ip got blocked and i had to ask someone else to register for me who failed also until i discovered the zoom function to enlarge it a bit.

Greetings from holland

This captcha system really is the worst I've ever seen.

I just signed up and I nearly moved on to another forum. There has to be a better way to do this. Maybe you could ask math questions like some other forums do. Anything is better than the current system.

well there isnt much we can do until the boss does an board update (fingures crossed it will be this month).
as soon as we lessen the capthca we get hit hard with so much spam the forum becomes usesless (porn anyone).
hopefully the new board will have added features to catch these idiots and bots before they get to our board without having to trouble new users.
if you are reading this as a guest and cant access then use the contact admin button, ive done it in the past a number of times and set up accounts for people using the same capthca - you just refresh until one is clear enough.

If there is a contact admin button, I never found it. So let me join the chorus of complaints about the CAPTCHAs here. I realize spam is a problem but there are other solutions than making it almost impossible for real people to register.

In the end, my visual impairment turned out to be a benefit. I printed the page, then used one of my tools, a video magnification system that also lets me change colors and enhance contrast. Without that I would NEVER have made it past the CAPTCHA.

There is a CAPTCHA that allows you to hear the characters in audio output. Spambots cannot get past that so far as I know but it would allow actual human beings, you know, those people trying to register who cannot get past the CAPTCHAs, to ACTUALLY REGISTER!

Unless your goal is to stop as many legitimate registrations as possible, you need to change this damn system!!

You really need to get a new Captcha system. Took me over 7 tries (and I was locked out once due to reaching max allowed attempts) to register. It's very, very hard to make out the characters.

For example, here are two pictures that were shown to me:

Not impossible pretty hard to get, i agree its bad but there is naff all we can do until we get a new board as ive said time and again. we could lower the level but then be flooded with porn spam - no thank you, this is the lesser of two evils and as ive said in the past anyone wanting to join but have problems with the process is welcome to contact me directly with [email protected]

I found out it becomes incredibly easier when you save the picture and run it through a nice photo editing program, also zooming it. (Yes I'm a perfectionist :p )

The fix is just about to come with the forum upgrade. Then there will just be some question/answer kind of check thing and no more captchas.

Yet another cry for a new captcha system. I tried about 20 times. I also sent an e-mail (whatever address was given) w/ no reply. I had already gave up on it. For some reason, I tried again and got lucky.

It's bad. It defeats the purpose to have an online forum when newbies can't sign up. You'll have a bevy of new Archos users from the new A7HT, so suggest you step on the gas a bit.

I think I changed it with the forum update. But I will install the proper question registration modification, though perhaps not before the middle of June or so.

I've just registered to this forum and yes I still find the captcha system a bit difficult to read. I work for a programmer who has a good captcha system. Maybe you want to try it out here. He can help you integrate their system to your registration form if you're interested.
