Can anyone help me? I got an archos 32 tablet for Christmas and am looking for an application that will allow me to text cell phones (my sister can do this from her ipod touch). What are the apps voice chat, pingchat and cnectd and do they work with the ARHCOS 32. I am lost and really want the texting feature to work. Any suggestions would be great. Thnks!

Make a google account and get Google Voice. You can choose from a great list of numbers and it's just like a real phone as far as texting goes, as long as you have wi-fi.

Most all cell phone providers provide an email/SMS gateway that will allow you to send a text message to their subscribers via an email message. This is a list I have. It is probably non-exhaustive, but it may give you a start:

Well, Google gives you a cell phone number. For the set up process you can give your home phone number, then an automated caller will call your house and you enter the code they give. Then you're ready to go. They only use the number you give them to verify, and call forwarding if you choose.

It will indeed work if you live in the US. I happen to live in Canada, so I use textplus which works very well.

On the device (32) do I just go to the Google Voice website and do the texting? I am set up with a phone number through Google Voice, but am not sure how to navigate my way through it. I want to learn it so I can teach my daughter Mae.
