Surely we can be sure as we currently do not have hardware acceleration it is software only. Archos staff member said the changes needed to enable acceleration were in rom and said they had a special version of the rom that they were using for flash testing that had those changes in it.

If hardware accelerated runs the same as non accelerated surely there is something well wrong.

Again, look on Droid X or Nook Color if Flash is better there, before thinking Archos can possibly do more on 10.1, they might do more on 10.2, I dunno.

Again, let's find someone who has Droid X or Nook Color, maybe even reported here in the forum before about Flash performance on those. If flash performance on those is better than Flash 10.1 of AppsLib, then only then, yes, it's likely Archos will speed it up in firmware.

10.2 might be for Honeycomb, well then let's get Honeycomb officially on our tablets, that'll make for a good 3.0 firmware. As far as I know, though, Honeycomb source code is not yet released in the open. But it should be out the same day as Xoom.

The Xoom is already out, every store here in my local area have them and are in stock, I looked at one this past weekend...and I must say I am really impressed with the quality and performance of the product, and now with the A101 being $369.99+$30.00(16ig MicrsoSD)=$399.99, vs. the $599.99 of the 32gig Xoom is not looking like the A101 is such a deal any more. If I was looking at tablets now and compared the two the Xoom would be by far the better deal. I don't want to hear about how much you'll be paying over two years of contract vs. no contract as if your buying something like this you'll would buy the internet anyway, that can't be configured in to the tablet. Also if something happens to it, screen cracks, stops working, for the insurance will cover it, for $80.00, with $400.00 your just plain out of luck. Anyway that's off topic, the Xoom is out and is in stores and the Honeycomb source code has not been released yet.

Google said they'll release the source code and updated CDD the day Xoom is out. It should be any day now, I guess they need to put finishing touches to it before release. And the corrent pricing is like this, A101IT is $299 MSRP and Xoom is $799 MSRP, nearly 3x more expensive, nearly 2x heavier, nearly 2x fatter, no kick-stand. Don't write misleading stuff in here please.

With all due respect, I am not missleading anything. Just stating what I know. Here in the US the 16gig 101 is $369.99, and you would need to buy a 16gig sd card to equal the 32gig of the Xoom. Also the Xoom is already on sale here in the US. The store I was at this past weekend has already sold over a hundred units. The $599 price is with a two year conrtact. That is how I did the compared the two.

Your numbers are completely misleading. Don't waste my time. A101IT is $299 480gr, Xoom is $799 730gr. End of story.

Anyone signing up for a 2-year contract and over $1500 for cellular on a 10" tablet must be partly insane, as it's very unlikely that the user is going to even use that 3G connection lots as 10" tablets mostly stay at home and at home you have wifi.

Actually, the iPad is an even better deal than the Xoom or the A101, because I can get an iPad for free. Just Google "free iPad" if you don't believe me.

Ah but that assumes (unless you know any different) that the nook and Droid x versions are hardware accelerated to the same extent (or at all). You did say archos design their hardware with deep integration to software. Well acceleration could be one of them???

I am not disagreeing with you just pointing out it isn't as black and white as comparing to two other devices with unknown os optimisation or hardware acceleration methods and different manufacturers who may or may not have done as good a job at it.

Unless you know something we don't or have had a chance to try the flash accelerated version of the rom?

Hope it is out soon as having flash was one of my reasons for choosing the archos tablet. At this rate the premium tablet will be out lol

This seems like a flash back to the Gen7 getting flash in June of 2010 in Android 2.0 - it didn't happen.

I believe we will probably never see an Adobe certified Flash on the Gen8s.

I thought the gen 7s didn't officially get 2.2. (I could be wrong) So, we are that much closer on that front...

If we do get an official flash though, I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't any different.

Update on Flash Player 10.2 for mobile devices

Today we are happy to announce that Flash Player 10.2 will be available for download via Android Market on March 18th. Flash Player 10.2 is a production GA (General Availability) release for Android 2.2 (Froyo) and 2.3 (Gingerbread) devices which meet the Flash Player hardware system requirements. Well... I can say that after testing three versions of flash on various websites, CNN was one that ALWAYS crashed after a commercial was played - until 10.2... So far, so good folks - I can even see the GOD D@MN ads in the video too! LOL

I believe it works on Froyo, Gingerbread and Honeycomb.

Unfortunately, some site that didn't work well work fine, but sites that worked well before seem to have problems... I guess we'll never win!

I found it on another site as well, this 10.2 is wonderful! flash video that plays like slideshow on 10.1 now plays smoothly on my 101! and the browser no longer auto-close to desktop! It is as if this 10.2 has got long awaited video acceleration already!!

What site are you testing on? I'm getting frequent crashes on youtube.com (full site) and that's never been a problem site for me.

I am testing CNN website, and a few other flash video sites. For youtube, I can play using flash, no problem with that. However, even at 360P and this new flash, it is still slow, so I'm still using the youtube app to play youtube.
