I just bought an Archos 43 Vision, and I was very excited to load up my music on my 16GB MicroSD card, and that I had found a player at a reasonable price with this capability. I loaded up my music to the MicroSD (and some to the actual player), popped it in the SD slot, and then left home with it, planning to get great use out of my brand new player. When I play music on my SD card, it sounds AWESOME... for a short time. About 2:00-2:45 into EVERY song that is stored on my MicroSD card, the audio quality plummets from excellent down to the quality of an old and used cassette tape. When I move those files from the SD card to the player, the audio quality is perfect. I am highly disappointed in this, considering I am planning to put a minimum total of approx. 22-24GB of music on my player, once the SD is factored in.
When I play music stored on the actual player, I can play that all night long (literally) and the audio quality will never decrease... at all. I have not had a chance to test to see if the SD audio quality eventually goes back up, but I can do that, and I will post the results here.
Second, I downloaded some episodes of a TV show from zshare.net (they are all 24:04 in length), and the player is only able to play the first 4-5 seconds of the video. All of these videos are in .avi format, and I experience the same problem whether the files are on the SD card or on the internal flash memory. However, I am able to play other .avi files, so the problem is likely to do with either the original source of the file (before it got uploaded to zshare), or it is a problem with files from zshare.net specifically. If you like, I can post the URLs to the files, if you want to download them and try something for yourself to see if they work for you.
Another minor video problem I have is with a concert DVD that I downloaded via torrent in the form of two .avi files. Playing the file works just fine, the only problem is the video lags behind the audio at various times. It is not the video a/v synchronization within the file - in places it was lagging the first time I watched it, the second time around it lagged in different spots. What would cause this?
Also, is there any limit at all to how much SD memory this device can handle? for example, if I wanted to put a 64GB MicroSD card in and load it up with all kinds of memory, would that work?
Thanks! I am looking forward to hearing back from a moderator/admin, but if any fellow users have any suggestions, I will try those as well.
