There might be some interference problems outputting video on same mini jack as normal headphones.

I'd really like to see a full sized built-in HDMI output. Especially I think the Archos 7 Internet Tablet with Android probably is big enough to have space for such a connector built right in. They can have some rubber cover for the plug if they want to prevent dust from going inside.
My Nokia N97 has just the one output jack for combined video and audio.

I've been thinking about getting an N97 or N900. I assume you use it as a phone too and not just as a portable media device? Because I was wondering if it could be used fully as only a media device, with internet capabilities too, without paying for cell phone service.

Hey.

Yes, you don't need to have a sim card in it at all. All the multimedia functions will work perfectly well. Internet too, will be fine as long as you have a Wlan to connect to - and that includes emails.

Free Satnav too now, of course.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Doesn't the N900 have 3G? I don't know much about 3G but doesn't that give you a constant internet connection without having to find a "hot spot" or using a router? Thanks.

The N900 will have 3G capability, which is a cellphone service. But 3G is not always available. The phone drops in and out of 3G all the time. You really need a data plan

And keep in mind on some phones, 3G can be a huge power leech. With 3G on, my Blackjack II was dead in a day, and with it disabled, I got 14+ days. (Though, that was before I fixed the antenna.)
