Just a note,it took me a while to get this working correctly so it might or might not work..
these are the steps i used to install windows 8 with touchscreen features :D

1. First be sure to have the GMA 500 graphics driver and the Archos touchscreen driver

heres the Touchscreen Driver(you can download GMA 500 driver"google")
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OQIZF25O

1b once you have both files on flash drive, fresh install Windows 8 on your Archos 9
2 Then once in Windows 8,go to your flash drive and begin to install the GMA 500 driver in Win 7 compability mode......

Listen carefully:when installing the graphics GMA 500, a pop up will come out, asking you to verify you want to install the driver anyway because it can't be verified by windowsCLICK NO

NOTE i waited about 5 seconds for the set up to move a little bit and then clicked on no
idk if this helps or not,but that's what i did

an error message will appear, exit it and now you will be able to change the resolution to 1024-768

3 restart and now simply install the provided Archos touchscreen driver and reboot
upon reboot you will get a calibration screen and you will be all set from there

the on-screen keyboard should work and the basic touchscreen gestures like scrolling should work

Any questions,just ask :D

A straight and simple one: what are your first impressions with W8 on A9?

It's a lot better overall but keyboard acts weird when typing on this site...it's faster and doesn't crash

Boot is like 30-40 seconds!!!
The picture password feature is awesome imo and keyboard is more responsive

a other things I don't remember :)

Had an accident: dropped my Archos and destroyed the disk.
Bougth a RunCore 64GB 1.8" SSD.

Did a"clean" W8 Pro instal with these drivers:

Video
GMA 500 Version 5.0.0.2030: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... ldID=19155
No screen flicker.

Touch screen:
ftp://support.archos.com/Archos%209/Dri ... 5_Beta.zip
(Dont forget to select PS/2 device)

Keyboard from Archos:
ftp://support.archos.com/Archos%209/Dri ... 022010.zip
Dowloaded the Two thumbs Template from:
http://www.chessware.ch/download/tiorigami.exe
(Dificult to use at first... But i like it)

Everything ele is still using W8 instaled (??Microsoft??) drivers...

Cant turn off BT, but everything else is working fine.

Cant notice any great increase in speed (expected because of SSD).
W8 loads in less then a minute but using it is not that faster than W7.
Cant notice any great increse in battery duration (also expected because of SSD).
It lasts about 5 hours (remember: i cant turn of BT yet).

Not sure if I'm reading it wrong, but you can't turn off Bluetooth ONLY!
You must turn off WI-FI and Bluetooth because they are both on the same chip.
You can't have 1 without the other.

also Win 8 is slow because thier is no official Win 8 drivers.
I can run 720p youtube on Win 7(Opera).
Then with Win 8 it lags at 240p/360p.
Overall Win 7 is a lot faster overall than Win 8.
