my laptop just broke. :( and now im wondering can the archos 9 relace my laptop? i really cant see what i would miss from a laptop. all i would need is to write reports, internet, connect my phone to it, and basic things. can the archos 9 do this?

I like my Archos 9, but it won't replace my laptop. My laptop can handle any program with ease, as opposed to the Archos 9, which is slower and has a small hard drive.

When buying a computer, you must think ahead. You may only need it for the occasional document, internet and email for now, but if later on you want to do more, the Archos 9 won't do. It's up to you, but a 14" laptop would be the way to go. Light enough for traveling and powerful enough to run almost any program.

hipena,
The A9 can do a lot of the same things a full size laptop can do. Just be aware of its limitations (processor, memory, hard drive). If you have a port replicator or powered USB hub an external keyboard, mouse, hard drive and maybe a Ready-boost USB stick could be added to extend some performance and usability. I am currently typing this on my A9 screen using a good stylus pen and it is a bit cumbersome. Its OK to answer email but I would not want to compose a report or PowerPoint presentation.
For external keyboard and mouse I recently saw a nice blue tooth keyboard on Amazon and there are decent BT mice on eBay.
Good luck with your choice.
