Well, I love my Archos 9 because its not to big, has a bright screen, is nice to handle and silent. But there are some issues I have to fight with. The tablet is going very hot. Often the system makes a little pause, then the system hangs some seconds. This is while I open some tabs on the browser or windows is loading some updates. Another issue, if I use handwriting the system is not fast enough. ;)

Now I would like to know if there are differences if I would use a SSD instead of the HDD. ATM I use a 8GB microSDHC for ReadyBoost.

Is there a noticeable decrease of heat?
There are fewer system hangs?
Is handwriting (Win7 input panel) faster?

Heat is from the processor and not the drive so no difference in heat.
Read write times to a good SSD are much faster and overall performance should improve considerably. Still limited to 1gig of ram so if it is memory issues that is causing the pauses the SSD will have little impact.

Well, because the hdd becomes very hot after some use - 56┬░C is normal here - I would say a cool drive could make a difference. If the ssd would be araound 30┬░C there should be lesser heat on the system so the cpu could be cooler too because there is no heating from the drive anymore.

I would like to use the SuperTalent GF MLC SSD. 40/80 MB/s schould be much faster then the harddrive, but dont know the limitations of the hardware interface on the Achos 9.
But also if the RAM is the probelm a SSD should give a boost because the swap file should be faster too.
But I dont know if RAM or harddrive the problem on handwriting or just the slow CPU.

I also use an 8GB microSDHC for ReadyBoost, bit I don't see any difference wit ot without it.

Windows 7 only seems to use half (4Gb) of the space available.

Any tips ??
