Has anyone tried using the ReadyBoost feature with a nano usb memory stick?

such as http://usb.brando.com/eagletec-usb-nano ... 1d015.html

I'm trying to find a UK supplier at the moment to give one of these a whirl

Does it make a big difference?

I'm guessing readyboost is the nearest we can get to adding memory

I have never, ever succeeded in getting my "9" to recognize any usb device as Readyboost-compatible. :(

However, I did try installing a few programs to it that were running poorly from the factory HDD. There was a noticeable performance improvement.

To VooDoo:

why dont you try some steps below to make A9 recognize any USB - this works for me:

Step 1: right click on your usb and choose properties
Step 2: choose ReadyBoost tab and tick on the "Stop retesting this device when I plug it inÔÇØ. Click OK then safely remove your usb before continue
step 3:
type "regedit" in the search menu and click on regedit.exe

in the left menu: from computer follow below path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows NT > CurrentVersion > EMDgmt.

in EDMgmt, click on the usb that you want to do readyboost. Now there are 3 files you should change to make your usb ready(just double click and change the value data):

* Device Status: change to 2 and click OK to save.

* ReadSpeedKbs: change to 1000

* WriteSpeedKbs: change to 1000

Step 4: tap on F5 to regedit update these new value
Step 5: plug your usb back and choose readyboost. and everything will work like a charm

Hope this will help. Have fun!!

Reeve

I use a 2gig stick for readyboost. I notice a pretty big speed increase. not like excel number crunching fast, but for file and program loads, it does make a difference.

great article and it lists a bunch of em that are already , erm ready

I use an 8Gb microSD card and usb card reader and although it is recognised for ReadyBoost, I don't see any advantage.

Does anyone know a good way to benchmark ??
