Steve Chippy of UMPCPortal broadcast live from Intel Developers Forum at: http://archosfans.com/2009/09/22/archos ... ers-forum/

He might be the first guy to test it overnight in his hotel room. Check http://midmoves.com for Chippy's coverage.

The audio is very distorted but it's still an interesting view. If Archos would only put a larger drive into it.....

That has to be the most annoying video sharing site I've seen. I get 10 seconds of playback, followed by a 30 second pause for buffering.

I tried pausing it to let it buffer the whole file, but it then restarted from the beginning, played 10 seconds, then a 30 second pause...

I'll try again tonight.

Nice review there. Still looks like a high-quality wide-viewing-angle screen. Funny the leg of the "9" is broken -- the testers should take better care of it!

Archos should really do something about the HDD size or provide specs to see if we can upgrade ourselves (they better not lock that drive to the device).

If archos doesn't lock system down too much, it would be really nice to install Windows 7 Home Premium (a touch screen without the tablet features is a horrible idea) and put in a better HDD or a 32-64GB SSD.

SSD would be nice but then the cost of the thing would increase by $250 usd
Installing windows 7 home premium is probably a bad idea. I doubt this tablet has the hardware to run it well. And I would assume you would have to install the 32 bit version of windows 7.

There are lots of tradeoffs vs nice to have stuff on this first generation tablet.

From a practical point of view I think a 60gig HDD is sufficient. Remember, you won't be using this like a full size PC but as a alternate tool. You can always buy an external 2.5 HDD for storage and lets hope its possible to swap it out.

In any case it looks to be very promising.
