Hi everyone noobi here, just got the Archos 2 and am having problems. When I rip music from cd as per their instructions and directing the file to Desktop when I drag and drop or use copy to Archos or sychronise all the albums go into one folder on the Archos as ' unidentied artist' and all follow on from each other.
At the moment I have 3 albums in the same folder all 'unidentied artist' totalling about 35 tracks, numbered 1-10.1-15, 1-10.
When I open the Archos I have tried opening the folder containing the 3 albums and renaming them with the correct names but it doesn't seem to help.
Don't know if the following is any help but when cd plays and I do the rippng I don't get album info showing eg artist , album tracks etc.
Have asked Archos for help but had no reply from them.
Any help would be appreciated

Re: trouble with ripping cd's
We were all noobies at one time, so welcome.
Don't know if it'll work or if you have tried it.
Have you done an "album update" after you have transferred (copy / paste) your music to your Archos?
On mine I have for example 3 Shakira albums, all the tracks appear listed under her name, but are all named and numbered on the Archos.
So maybe if you do an album update it will name the Artist and tracks for you.
Good luck

Hi Postman, thanks for your interest, I have always done the 'album update' so it shouldn't be that. You mention you had 3 Shakira albums and that they were all under the one artist 'Shakira' but all appeared as seperate albums in Archos, am I understanding you correctly?. In my case different artists were appearing under the 'unknown artist', couldn't get my head around that.
I have since downloaded 'FreeRIP' and my problems might have disappeared, the programme showed the album and track names and I have managed to transfer the albums to the Archos under their own name as they should have done, fingers crossed but it would appear to be solved.
The only thing I can think may be wrong is that my Windows Media Player must be corrupted in some way because that wouldn't do what the ' FreeRIP' prog. does with no problem.
Thanks again
