Most likely this has nothing to do with your device at all.

Youtube used to run Flash 9, then they upgraded to Flash 10. The Archos 5IT can only run Flash 9. Youtube has previously kept two versions of every video... the "main version" in Flash 10, and also a Flash 9 version for non-Windows, and early Android, systems. Now, it seems that Youtube is "deprecating" Flash 9. The Flash 9 file versions are no longer available at higher resolutions, it seems.

It seems that Youtube is preparing to finally abandon Flash 9 entirely... no inside info here, just reading between the lines.

If you want to watch or even download files from youtube you have to use the FREEDI YOUTUBE DOWNLOADER program (2.1.10 latest version).
It works really well on ARCHOS IT 1.6 Android.
You can get it in:

I just can't install this...
"FREEdi YouTube Downloader could not be installed on this device."
What to do, PLEASE! :(

Edit:
And where is option, like on the other android devices, to install software from "unknown sources"?

The FREEDI YOUTUBE DOWNLOADER program must be 2.1.10 version.
It only works with Archos 5IT, firmware 2.0.45 android 1.6.
You have to copy it inside the archos, for example in DOWNLOADS directory and then to execute with
FILES ADMINISTRATOR app.

Thanks a lot for you answer,
but: where to find FILES ADMINISTRATOR, that is the (new) question?
I can't find it on AppsLib or on Market...
10x again :)

Edit:
Please... =P~

Sorry for the answer, I translate from spanish to english.

The app is FILES MANAGER, inside the Archos 5IT menu, where you can found all apps.

With file manager or management you can copy, delete, move from one directory to other all files and even you can install
any application which you previously copy in a Directory.

You have to do double click in the app you want.

As I said:
"FREEdi YouTube Downloader could not be installed on this device."
And same thing with some other .apk files.
So nothing to do with "FILES ADMINISTRATOR" or some other BS!
And for some people it will be much better to be silence,
when they try to do things they don't understand ie. to be smart... :^o
Or just give us screenshot to prove your words.
10x
:doubt:

Raulandio,
did you notice one little difference? All the time you are talking about version 2.1.10.
And that version can't be installed on Archos 5.
On your screenshoots is version 2.2.10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is it: http://clip2net.com/s/2tkZy

And YES, it CAN BE installed! =D>
Thank you and I'm sorry for my angry previous post :D
