I have Insignia (Best Buy store brand) Bluetooth headphones that have never had a problem when used with a Bluetooth transmitter dongle, but when I pair them to my A5A 500GB I will sometimes have freezes or resets while listening to music with the Archos Media Player. I'm not doing anything fancy, no other apps are running, and I have made sure that Wifi is turned off, as well as the Bluetooth dongle, to avoid interference. I have also had freezes when I try to turn Bluetooth off in Settings. I have also had a couple of cases of the A5A saying Bluetooth is active, but the music player acting like it's in a 2X fast forward mode, with no sound. Once this happened, Bluetooth wouldn't work until the A5A was turned off and on again. Normal wired headphones worked while this was going on. I'm using the 1.7.99 firmware.

The question is, are these problems normal, and possibly software, or does it sound like I have a hardware problem with the Bluetooth/Wifi chip ? I'm still within my first month of ownership, so I could get a free replacement from Newegg.

Thanks,

Bob

What is resetting, the A5A or the Headphones?

The A5A - the headphones appear to be fine.

OK, thanks for the clarification.

BT is pretty flaky, but I've not had the spontaneous reboot issue (my issues usually involve keyboards, trackpads, a Wiimote and having to repair after suspend, a minor PITA ;) ).

All I can tell you is that, if it were me, I'd probably take a chance and swap it out if it's not too much trouble.

I have a pair of Motorola S305 headsets and typically have to reboot (hold power for 15 seconds) everyday.

I listen to internet radio using the AMC and also surf the web. Generally, I'll lose internet connection and when I try to restart AMC, everything freezes and I have to reboot to fix it. I never had the problem using wired headphones. This happens with .99 and .96 firmware.

Brian :

That sounds like alot of the other things I am seeing besides the resetting out of the blue while playing music.

I've also never had problems with wired headphones, or when I use my external Bluetooth dongle.

Thanks,

Bob

My recommendation is The BlueAnt Pump waterproof headphones, delivers better sound for running or swimming. and durable with full features.Stay on my ears perfectly as well. So i wouldn't use anything else now. Good luck.

I agree on those earphones. I have a pair and they are really good. Work a treat with my tablet :)
