fixes a race condition in bringing up wifi happening sometimes

Version 1.7.93 - March 23th, 2010

Mutlimedia: increase Archos Multimedia Library update speed for large hard drives when using MSC USB mode
Multimedia: fix some mp3 files playing with wrong sampling rate
Multimedia: fix some subtitles preventing correct video playback
Multimedia: fix compressed MKV subs sometimes not displayed
Cell phone tethering: disable TCP/IP header compression since it conflicts with some carriers
Networking: fix some DHCP issues occurring with some buggy access points on certain firmware revisions (e.g. WRT54G v5 FW 1.01.0)
Networking: fix some Wi-Fi disconnect occurring when exiting from suspend
Networking: fix Wi-Fi turning directly off when wpa_supplicant.conf file is empty
Appslib: version 1.1.6b2 of appslib is installed at firmware upgrade
Accessories: add HDMI minidock support

EDIT : So looks like the HDMI dock is actually gonna be a reality

A question
Is the "Auto gain" option in the video settings (audio options) (while running a video) new?
There is NO "Auto gain" option available in music playing. WHY?

* bug in video playing
The app. aborts when I skip backward to the main menu via arrow.
(video files flv placed in an extra folder, all files are playable, but the devices crashed after try to change the folder - only a reset is possible)
(it seems it is the same erroneous behaviour as before)

yay! now the songs that play in slow-mo will play normally. I hope.

They still didn't fix what i think is a major problem with the tethering. the ability to pick something OTHER then a phone as the tethering device. :x

hmm seems like a nice update! bout to try it out=]

however.. this has me wondering about how true those 2.1 in the works rumors were.. seems kinda odd that theyed release another big update before 2.1 if 2.1 has already in the works for 6 weeks now.
any thoughts on the subject?

Not sure that this is really that big an update, more of a fix-what-did-not-go-too-well-with-the-last-one, I reckon ?

Android 2.1 isn't just an update to the 1.x Android system. It's a total rebuild. It's going to take them some time to put together a working Android 2.1 release.

hmm,

during the update the device halts and tells me, the update has not been succesfully installed (error code 214).
but when i start my a5 it tells me the actual fw is installed.

think i will check my device, when im at home again tonite and probably backup all my stuff, reformat the device and then reinstall the fw again.

There are feature additions and fixes that will translate to 2.1 and some fixes that won't wait for 2.1. So expect to see regular FW releases right up to the release of 2.1 just as there were regular releases of 1.5 FWs right up to the release of 1.6.

Will this break the hacks recently added via root such as the paid market hacks ect? I would hate to go through that again for a minor update for me anyway.

1.7.95 is the fastest FW release ever. :D You just beat 1.4.25!

I've still got Android Market and all of my apps installed after the update... I didn't do the paid app hack so I can't vouch for that one.

Bluetooth tethering still broken for me as in 1.7.71 & 1.7.77. Gone back to 1.7.33. Tethering again works flawlessly.
C'mon Archos it worked before, FIX IT!
