UMPCportal, Pocketables: Archos 5IT is the fastest in world

Re: UMPCportal, Pocketables: Archos 5IT is the fastest in world
Didn't see the "fastest in the world" quote. Can you point me at it because all I could find was a reference to the browser averaging the fastest load time across several sites when compared to 3 other Cortex devices. And even then there were some sites each of the devices loaded faster than the others (with all of the other 3, including the old Archos 5 IMT, beating the A5A on Flickr).
My macbook pro loads amazon in around 5 seconds whereas the A5A takes 8.6, does that mean Safari is the fastest in the world?

i also noticed that the tests were not scientific. Last time i looked, fastest in the world needed some official evidence, rather than just one mans opinion.

Good job alsuttroll comparing it to your $2000 2kg Apple laptop.alsutton wrote:My macbook pro loads amazon in around 5 seconds whereas the A5A takes 8.6, does that mean Safari is the fastest in the world?
UMPCportal says it clearly that Archos ARM Cortex A8 800mhz processor and Android Webkit based browser performs at least as good if not better than Viliv S5 Intel Atom. You'd have to de-activate Flash support on the Intel MID for the performance to be about equal.
This is before Google has even released an ARM Cortex A8 optimized full Chrome browser for Android which is due to happen within the next few weeks when the first builds of Google Chrome OS for ARM Cortex A8 are to be released as free open source software.
And by that time Archos will also release 45nm ARM Cortex A8 1ghz products such as the Archos Phone which will increase performance even more.

So, there was actually no "fastest in the world" quote then, and you just made it up.
That is unless you'd care to do as I've asked and actually point to where anyone in either article you've pointed to actually says that (and no, pointing to a comment you make on the article won't count).

LOL
Come on, the archos needs some good press... There HAS to be some somewhere...

STOP the blatant fanboyism. Making up quotes doesn't exactly make you seem credible...
That being said, I'm happy with the browser on the 5it. It's fast and works well.
They put the Viliv in power saving mode. How is that fair when the 5it was running at full speed? What happens when they let the Viliv run without a crippled CPU (1300 Mhz)? I bet the results are quite different...Intel Atom-based Viliv S5, locked it into 800Mhz mode (Power-saving mode) turned Flash OFF in the Firefox 3.5 browser and spent about an hour racing the Archos 5IT against the Viliv S5.
That being said, I'm happy with the browser on the 5it. It's fast and works well.

Sore looser.alsutton wrote:So, there was actually no "fastest in the world" quote then, and you just made it up.
Archos is way faster than all other Android devices on the market, it is way faster than 80% of the iphones and 95% of the ipod touch on the market (only the latest ipod touch released last month and latest iphone 3GS released a few months ago have similar ARM Cortex A8 processor).
And for $249 Archos 5IT with 7 hours battery in WiFi browsing mode and 182gr is at least as fast as $549 Viliv S5 with lower battery life and 395gr.
It loads websites faster than all other ARM Cortex A8 devices in the comparison 8 out of 10 times. And the last 2 times, it could probably have been a slight cache/bandwidth thing and it would have won in 10 out of 10 times.alsutton wrote:and actually point to where anyone in either article you've pointed to actually says that
The Archos screen displays 2.5x more pixels than Ipod touch.
Re: UMPCportal, Pocketables: Archos 5IT is the fastest in world
I love how you debate Charbax. You completely ignore half of the points brought up and then throw in other useless information that does not pertain to the original topic ("The Archos screen displays 2.5x more pixels than Ipod touch.")Charbax wrote:Sore looser.alsutton wrote:So, there was actually no "fastest in the world" quote then, and you just made it up.

The Viliv was purposely slowed down. What good is that test? Who would purposely slow down their device when surfing? Why not post the results at 1300Mhz and 800Mhz? The "review" is very questionable.
"It loads websites faster than all other ARM Cortex A8 devices in the comparison"
- you go from "in the comparison" to "fastest in the world". What a joke...

Re: UMPCportal, Pocketables: Archos 5IT is the fastest in world
Charbax I'm Still waiting on the pointer to the "fastest in the world" claim that you made the title of this topic.
You can throw all the personal insults at me you like and continue to quote what could be even more fictitious claims statistics without any form of backing if you like, none of them make your made up claim real, and all of them just lessen what little credibility you have left.

What credibility do you think you have?alsutton wrote:what little credibility you have left.
Let me remind you that your company is trying to sue Archos for the AppsLib infringing on your supposed rights with AndAppsStore.
Yet you keep coming here to this forum to spew out all your frustrations.
I posted two links. One says Archos is the fast ARM experience in the world, as fast as Intel Atom. The other lists webpage loading times for the ARM Cortex A8 based devices that are on the market where Archos wins 8 out of 10 times. (and where the last 2 out of 10 times are on a device that displays 2.5x less pixels thus doesn't really count as faster on those 2 cases)alsutton wrote:Charbax I'm Still waiting on the pointer to the "fastest in the world" claim
Perhaps you would like me to make you a drawing explaining you how ARM Cortex A8 is the fastest embedded processor in the world and how Archos 5IT is by far the best and most powerful implementation of it?

Re: UMPCportal, Pocketables: Archos 5IT is the fastest in world
Charbax, you have made a claim that the A5 IT was labelled the "the fastest in the world", and I have asked you to back that up by pointing to where that claim was made, and you've failed to do so.
The only place I can find the word "world" in either article is a comment pointing here telling the article author they have been misquoted by you.
So please please please, prove me wrong and point me at the quote.

Re: UMPCportal, Pocketables: Archos 5IT is the fastest in world
Let me remind you, your righteous company that you love to defend claims to have 500 + applications in it's store. And yet it hosts less than 100 of them itself...Charbax wrote:Let me remind you that your company is trying to sue Archos for the AppsLib infringing on your supposed rights with AndAppsStore.
Merely hotlinking the rest from other online repositories without citing credit or gaining permission.
I'm not trying to take either side here, though it's sort of shocking how your never stop turning a blind eye to any of archos's faults.

Stop waisting my time please. Go back to your suing business.alsutton wrote:So please please please, prove me wrong and point me at the quote.
How about the titles of those 2 articles:
"Archos Android Tablet is possibly the Fastest ARM-based Web Experience ever. (And as fast as an Intel-based MID)"
"Website load times on ARM Cortex A8-powered mobile devices" (and where Archos wins in nearly all measurements)
Re: UMPCportal, Pocketables: Archos 5IT is the fastest in world
If those other repositories or application developers don't want people to link directly to their apps, they can just setup some permissions in the way they provide their download links so it only works for people actually visiting or logging-in from their sites.strazzere wrote:Merely hotlinking the rest from other online repositories without citing credit or gaining permission.
Google Images "hotlinks" all the images on the web.
You're "hotlinking" and leeching from Archos AppsLib database with your own HTML based applications library, what are you complaining about?
