That runs nice and smooth!

I think youre right that someone, probably archos, should make a gamepad adapter. Something that plugs into the bottom socket and fits to the bottom and sides of the archos solidly.

If they did that it would open the device up, not only to emulators and games via android and flash but also interest some game developers like the ipod has to develop some commercial quality games for it.

Yep, bluetooth will be too laggy for console games that require quick response times as most old school games do). Need direct USB input.

Where's the proof that an SNES emulator works?

I know the app dev for this emulator. He is the genious that also made Snesoid, Nesoid and GBAoid. He incorporated scaling to the apps, but not sure if mapped to cover "any" native resolution. You can send him an email and ask him in the Android market link. All of the apps play smooth, but some games do slow down (not many) on 528mhz hacked/clocked G1. I would expect all games to play perfect with Archos hardware- just need USB control.

360 & PS3 controllers are wireless controllers that use a 2.4ghz signal- not bluetooth. Much better signal and nowhere near the input latency of bluetooth.

It would be nice if WHEN we actually have the device in our hands Archos would provide a guide of some sort on how to set-up an emulator on the device since it probably doesn't come out of the box as an app.

I would be happy if someone made face buttons on the screen to play the game there is still room to do so.

Unless someone comes out with a controller of some sort you will be out of luck. Need multi touch otherwise and that will only cover NES level games, since they were limited to what buttons are used.

The resistive screen is also an issue.

I'm pretty sure any USB game controller like this one works right now already:

And any company could release a Bluetooth game controller that is thinner and more appropriate to snap-on each side of the Archos than something that looks like this thing:

How about proving it instead of conjecture? Also - in the title of this thread and the blog, you mention SNES but where's the proof?

Cmon' Charby! You know what I mean? A USB controller that attaches to the device would be best. Those controllers are bigger than the A5 itself ;)

Besides- prove it works =D>

I think the emulator apps are called Nesoid and Gensoid. I think they are in AppsLib already.

SNES is coming soon at http://www.supergnes.com/
