I'll be there, I'll try to setup a live webcam stream on ustream.tv or/and livestream.tv or/and some other live streaming site, perhaps kyte.tv

As long as they have enough upload bandwidth available..

Then of course post a bunch of HD quality videos on archosfans.com as well.

Ahh tell me about it!!!

I was all set to buy my first Archos (a 5) several weeks ago, but after reading this I've been hanging back. I doubt I'll go for the Android one because, with a 3G chipset and Android as the OS, it will be stupid money, but hopefully it might push down the prices of the existing 5 and 7 units.

Have to say im getting it hard to convince myself that this will be anyhting too major. It is a break from tradtion announcing a new model this early in the year, normally its july or august at the earliest. Plus theres no teaser up on the home page, as of yet. It would be a bit of an annoyance if it was just a press NDA thing. Good news is that theres definitely a blurred image of a new player on their android green notice. Hopefully just a couple more hours to go. Then a couple month wait for availability. Tho hopefully not a 6 month wait after that before it actually functions correctly....

How come there's nothing on the Archos site; or anywhere else of that matter, about this new release?

I'm guessing its nothing big and that there may be an firmware update for the Android on our A5. That's why we haven't had a firmware in a while.

the "under maintenance" posting on the archos site is definitely a good sign!

Wow, it's running Windows 7, what a kick in the nuts for Android. That's that settled, I'll buy an Archos 5 then!!!!!

Edit - just noticed only an 80GB hard disk, at least Archos 5 and 7 owners won't feel butchered that their kit is now out of date.

I can't even see the streams from work... are you saying there is no device announced on Android ? or is it still part of the announcement for today ?

Do you mean WinMo 7 ? or Windows 7 ?
