Well, how desperate are you for that functionality? Figure you are at least 4+ months from Q3 2009, and 7+ from the end of Q3, so if you can wait that long might as well see what it is like.

Also please don't use all capital letters.

I would wait and see what happens. Maybe Android gets ported to the 5.

Not a chance, Archos would be throwing away sales of their Android device.

I say if the hardware is similar ask Archos to provide update at a cost to Archos 5 owners, enough to make it worthwhile them adapting for the 5's hardware.

Possibly but they could also use the opportunity to generate good will, appease Archos owners, and have more of chance to work out bugs before the "real" device is released. Porting it to the 5 would go a long way to help build enthusiasim for the the Archos Android.

Yes, and that "working out bugs" is sure to generate even more complaints. People here already feel like they are beta testers, imagine if they really were beta testers.

I'm not sure I understand this poll question.

Get an Archos 5 with DVR now

-or-

Wait for Android.

This makes it sound like Android does not come with DVR or any Archos features that we are sort of accustomed to...? What is Android all about? I thought it was simply an Operating System? Wouldn't the projected June arrival of the much ballyhooed "Archos Android" also have DVR function built-in as well as everything the basic Archos PMP comes with and more?

Yes I think that the whole point is for Archos to keep their features and just add Android on top, which will enable third party applications, smartphone features and more.

To be honest, I think that is great!

However, using my Archos as a phone seems like it should belong as an add-on function much like the GPS or amazing Head-Cam add-on. I am unsure exactly yet what Android is or does besides being an operating system, so I haven't thought it out. Maybe the creative minds at Archos will surprise all of us yet again for a third time in a row in September of 2009.

If it is as Charbax says, then I vote wait for Android-enabled Archos.
