Now this is pretty cool. Now it has to appear on USA retail shelves so people know about it.

They are shipping in France first. And if their marketing team quickly gets a feeling that there is good demand for it, then they should be shipping it worldwide and could also ship the Archos 10S with it. (not planned yet)

MSRP for the Windows XP version of Archo 10 with a 6-cell battery is 349Ôé¼ at this moment, and the Archos 10 Ubuntu MSRP is 375Ôé¼, so the difference is actually only 26Ôé¼ in terms of MSRP, consider that you are getting more than 3x more hard disk storage and 2x more RAM for that small price increase.

Now if only Archos could push the Archos 10S keyboard upwards closer to the screen by 1cm to allow for space for real mousepad button below the mouspad and not on each side of it, and if they would put the ctrl button at the buttom left corner instead of Fn, and ship the unlocked HSDPA version with 500GB, 2GB RAM and Ubuntu at 399Ôé¼ or 399 US dollars, I think that should be a huge hit and really seriously position Archos netbooks as the best price value.

If you are an adventurous geek, (purchasing legal multi-boot OS licences if available) you might even install a triple-bootup screen on it to boot into Ubuntu, Windows XP and a Hackintosh OSX.

Well I have upgraded my archos 10 to 2GB RAM and installed Ubuntu netbook remix on it. It makes a much more responsive machine than Windows XP even with the extra RAM. At the moment Im running it as a dual boot machine, but Im hoping to get virtualbox running to allow windows to run within ubuntu to save the reboots.

Isn't this what Jaffar has been using (before it was officially announced)?

It come with Firefox and that's cool. I'm using Firefox 3.5 RC2 now.

The Archos store in the USA is indicating that that 10 is out of stock.

Is there anyway to buy the Archos 10 with Ubuntu if I live in the United States?
