Just wanted to say - I took my 5 out with me today safe in a case. When I got home the paint had rubbed off in the bottom right back corner. I would have felt that given the amount of money I paid for the 5, it would have a better paint coating. Not to impressed by it at all.

From the current results about a third of people are suffering from metalwork corrosion.

I have noticed it on the back of the player. Its a discoloration of the paint not corrosion. The simple explanation is that the Archos 5 may run too hot for people with sweaty hands and that could be damaging the paint. I think it is affecting people with the 60GB more because it has more of the paint. Also check if there are micro scratches where there is discoloration because that could be the start of the problem.

Two weeks and no problem on mine.
People with discoloration issues usually have a problem with sweaty hands, but this needs to addressed in products being manufactured, perhaps this is not the case with the 5?

I have the 5 for approx 3 weeks. Corrosion (if that is what it is) has started bottom left (near power button). Mine is a 125GB version. Not happy with this at all. It's going to look dreadful as it gets worse - which is what I now expect.
Have others who have had this problem got their Archos5 replaced? What has been reaction from Archos Support?
