Charbax,
By any chance do you have an email address or postal address for the CEO of Archos that you interviewed? I think it is flat out disgusting that he is completly blowing of your question about their tech and customer support. You can just search "support" on this forum to see how bad it really is. I would like to start some sort of petition on here, to send him. What do you think?

Sure, you can start a petition, sign up yourself with several usernames on this forum and vote several times like you are used to.

Archos doesn't have Archos stores and you knew that before buying. So if you want walk-in return warrantee or money-back guarantee policy, you should buy in one of the big mega stores that provides that kind of service.

And otherwise just sell your Archos on ebay since most probably other people will be happy with it.

Sad to say, but I also would sign it. Evidently Charbax does not have the issues that some of us have, or the problems do not bother him enough to complain to the extent that some have. Missionsparta's unfair voice on this site is one thing, but that does not mean the problems are not there. If Missionsparta wants to spearhead some massive petition, I will add my name to the list based on the products performance.

They say the squeaky wheel gets oiled. Maybe Missions's Squeak will get louder. Or maybe he's brainwashing me. Either way I would just like my Archos 704 Wifi to work the way the owners manual says it should.

Charbax, you come of as a real tool on this forum. I have no clue why they sent you to talk to this Archos guy for us. You are pretty much his lacky Yes Man. You know damn well that there is a customer/tech service problem. But when the clown from Archos tells you this is not true, you act like the jedi mind trick has been used on you, and agree with him. It was an absolute waist of an opportunity to send the most blind sited mod to meet with this guy.

We all, as Archos owners, would have faired far better if Andy or Honey was sent.

You can accuse me of whatever you want. If you want to make accusations to make your prescious little "archos" seem all that better to you, feel free. You are clueless in my book, little man.

Why didn't you go make a video interview in Berlin with the Archos products manager if you are so up to date with Archos technology and if you think you have better questions to ask him?

I see your posts show up in every part of the forum, you've mentionned that you've sent your 704 WiFi several times back to the RMA, I cannot understand why you don't just sell off your Archos and go to the competitor if you're such a whinner. Go get a crappy Philips portable DVD player with a 7" LCD, and go get a Tivo or something, that's probably something for you.

I don't know if the 704 WiFi really has bugs, but I know that you bug this forum quite a bit with your whinning.

You can post constructive bug reports, constructive critisism, wish lists, help other users out, compile an FAQ, discuss the latest news, but please don't keep posting in hundreds of different threads even signing up as different usernames and constantly whinning about the class action lawsuits you dream of organising and bogus forum polls which you want to setup.

There are a few of us on here that have paid £300+ that lets be honest for our £300 odd pounds means we are beta testing the 704, im fed up with emailing Archos tech and getting no reply im also fed up with recording films, tv programmes ect and the unit messing it all up, i have now, if you have been following my posts recorded casino royale about 5 times, so thats 10 odd hours wasted of my life.

The Archos is as sexy as ____ but it is flawed, these may be down to human error but what is the point of emailing archos when you get no response, the telephone guys are top notch but I have to admit it does seem like the 704 is a forgotten machine, Where is my firmware update to rectify my problems or do i just suck it and see.

PR wise its a knightmare for Archos and Charbox your reply has not helped Archos or this sites reputation, as how I have read it, is that unless people post positive views on the 704 our views are pushed under the carpet and we shouldnt be posting on here.

The AV420 was a truly wonderful unit to own but i wanted to upgrade and lets be honest the 704 screen is a god send compaired to the 420 ( I still reckon the sound output via external speakers is better on the 420 ) but like i have posted before I feel let down and cheated by Archos on this unit as I have no trust in setting it up to record something and so far although not a lot of money I have wasted £10 odd pounds on films that I darent watch as I know the end is missing, the famous lets stop recording after1 hr 41 minutes syndrome, fair enough I think i have sussed that out as these wasted films was recorded before the firmaware update released in July, BUT the units still flawed and we all sit here and log onto to the official Archos website praying that as if by magic there is a firmware update. By the way i re recorded casino royale yesterday and the picture kept freezing although the timebar kept moving :lol: so cleaned the disck again and recorded it again 6th time lucky :lol: FFS :?

Charbox I do not want to put my unit on ebay or even send it back to qvc because when it works correctly it is a dream plus i also have a spare batery for it, ( another week though and if the unit ----'s up its going back, and thats a promise, and yes i will feel sad about that because Archos too me, well at least before the 704 meant that I was buying the best of the bunch, and for an Englishman to buy French means a lot ) all I want is for Archos to pull its finger out of it's ---- and sort out not only my problems but the many other posters on this forum, so that we can say " yep it was a -----g knightmare to start off with but hey the guys at Archos pulled us through " but at the moment i cant see that happening.

Please remember that this site is to help other Archos users not too score points of each other even if you are admin.

Charbox have you posted a report with your meeting with Archos.

This post is not meant to cause offence to any forum users or Admin but please lets keep it adult as the slanging matches are not getting my 704 fixed from the bugs or helping Archos or this site

I didn't ask any questions about the 704 WiFi, firstly I haven't tested it more then just checked it out at consumer electronic shows, and my first impressions of it is that it looks awesome, so I cannot confirm your bugs, second I have given up checking some threads in the 704 forum when I constantly hear Missionsparta whinning not only in 704 threads but all over the forum. Every time someone has a problem with anything, I see Missionsparta jumping in and swearing about how Archos is a *"├╝! company and how everyone should sue them and sign fake petitions and so on. That just bugs me so I get to ignore those messages.

But hey, now I hear three users in this thread posting that they have problems, two say it's the DVR length bug thing. So if one day you decide to clarify exactly what the problem is, and if that is the only serious problem you have, then it's easier to contact Archos and try and get some official answers. But if all there is is constant whinning about anything unrelated to your DVR bug, then forget it, at least I won't be spending time trying to get you official answers. But hey, there are many other people in this forum who can help and I'm not the only one who has one or two emails of people working at the best PMP company in the world.

you may be slagging me off with your post as i have not read it fully yet, but thanks for the quick reply.

I really do feel let down at the moment by Archos, it may just be human error regarding my problems but I have sent about 3 or 4 emails to archos and no reply, and by reading this site theres a lot of us experiencing human error :lol: personally I think it needs a firmware update but I really really cannot see that happening by the voices of the tech support guys, the impression i get is the 704 is old hat and they are busy on other units, I cannot afford to just keep buying the next generation units hoping that one will work.

Charbox have read your post fully ( i should be in bed :lol: )
The Archos is advertised as recording dvd tv shows etc via the dvr station but it isnt doing this hence the screen freezing, recordings stopping short, files playing and then stopping half way through this has surely got to be a firmware problem. I have a humax pvr 9200t machine that records tv programmes it does exactly what it is meant to do so why doesnt my Archos 704 do exactly what it as advertised to do, my av420 never ever had problems, I could say record this and it would record exactly what i chucked at it, although due to human error it split King Kong into two fles :lol: I sussed that out myself ;) the 704 though I have no confidence in at all, if thats down to human error gord knows as i all i get told by tech on the phone is to reformatt the hard disk ( im now on my 5th reformatt :? )

Anyway couple of weeks of my warranty left, im so hoping that it works as ( no disrespect ) i do not want the 704 TV unit as I like the wi-fi ( of which I have had no problems with, it is slow though :lol: )

Add me to the "problems with the DVR" list as well, although not as bad as some.

Charbax- if you don't have access to a 704 WiFi and don't use one every day, then you can't knock people who do and then complain that it doesn't do what it says it's supposed to.

What else can Missionsparta do but complain all the time when ARCHOS don't listen to him.

ARCHOS Technical Support is OK when you can talk to them, but they don't respond to emails as they are all marked as SPAM.

I have ended up emailing the US Support Team as they repsond in 24 hours.

Wanna set up a sticky in the GENERAL forum to list the email addresses of peeople at ARCHOS please.

The reason I dont sell my unit on Ebay, is how could I? If I did an HONEST listing it would say something like:

"Used Archos 704wifi unit that has been "repaired" 5 times. Unit does everything posible, except what it is made for. Will record any TV show, as long as it is under 23 minutes long. May also sometimes break a TV recording into multiple files that are unplayable on the 704. This is normal for this spetacular unit. Asking $399."

I bet I get bids up the wahooy. And before you tell me to not state that anything is wrong with the unit; you may be a weasle, but I am not. I would be no better than you or Archos at this point, if I tried to pass the unit off as a properly working unit.

Hmmmm one thing comes to mind, hes the OWNER of the forum, if you dont like what he has to say go elsewhere, im not banning you this time but locking this thread its going no where.
