There are a few of us on here that have paid ┬ú300+ that lets be honest for our ┬ú300 odd pounds means we are beta testing the 704, im fed up with emailing Archos tech and getting no reply im also fed up with recording films, tv programmes ect and the unit messing it all up, i have now, if you have been following my posts recorded casino royale about 5 times, so thats 10 odd hours wasted of my life.
The Archos is as sexy as ____ but it is flawed, these may be down to human error but what is the point of emailing archos when you get no response, the telephone guys are top notch but I have to admit it does seem like the 704 is a forgotten machine, Where is my firmware update to rectify my problems or do i just suck it and see.
PR wise its a knightmare for Archos and Charbox your reply has not helped Archos or this sites reputation, as how I have read it, is that unless people post positive views on the 704 our views are pushed under the carpet and we shouldnt be posting on here.
The AV420 was a truly wonderful unit to own but i wanted to upgrade and lets be honest the 704 screen is a god send compaired to the 420 ( I still reckon the sound output via external speakers is better on the 420 ) but like i have posted before I feel let down and cheated by Archos on this unit as I have no trust in setting it up to record something and so far although not a lot of money I have wasted ┬ú10 odd pounds on films that I darent watch as I know the end is missing, the famous lets stop recording after1 hr 41 minutes syndrome, fair enough I think i have sussed that out as these wasted films was recorded before the firmaware update released in July, BUT the units still flawed and we all sit here and log onto to the official Archos website praying that as if by magic there is a firmware update. By the way i re recorded casino royale yesterday and the picture kept freezing although the timebar kept moving
so cleaned the disck again and recorded it again 6th time lucky
Charbox I do not want to put my unit on ebay or even send it back to qvc because when it works correctly it is a dream plus i also have a spare batery for it, ( another week though and if the unit ----'s up its going back, and thats a promise, and yes i will feel sad about that because Archos too me, well at least before the 704 meant that I was buying the best of the bunch, and for an Englishman to buy French means a lot ) all I want is for Archos to pull its finger out of it's ---- and sort out not only my problems but the many other posters on this forum, so that we can say " yep it was a -----g knightmare to start off with but hey the guys at Archos pulled us through " but at the moment i cant see that happening.
Please remember that this site is to help other Archos users not too score points of each other even if you are admin.
Charbox have you posted a report with your meeting with Archos.
