Amazon.com U.S. is listing the 80 gig model of the TV plus as "shipping," but then it adds: "Availability: Usually ships within 4 to 6 weeks."

Sounds like the actual functionality and quality of this thing will remain a mystery a while longer.

The Archos.com "tech specs" are the usual fanfare and yadda-yadda without actually laying out enough to make a purchase decision.

Apple does this too. "Play Videos Right To Your Living Room TV!!!!" WOW!!!

But the fine print tells the true tale. I wonder how many Apple stooges got burned on AppleTV?

How can it be a big hit when it doesn't record?

According to Macworld: "Analyst: Apple TV sales below expectations"

Reading that article confirmed my "real world" observations at Sam's Club, whereas the stack of AppleTV's is always there. Not exactly flying out the door.

At least a few stores have just started listing the tv + as in stock:

Anybody going to take the plunge?

Woops. That place isn't showing it in any longer. Must have been an error. Can't find anyone else who's listing it as in stock either. Those reports of it being "in stores" (PCMag) must have been exaggerations.

Ah well . . . .
