Hello,

I just purchased the Cowon D2 and am a little disappointed with it. Mainly the 4000 file limit, not being able to create and save playlist and the sorry random play function.

I did a little research but still have a few questions on the 405.

1. I have a 404 30GB and can create and save custom playlist, can i do the same on the 405?

2. Is there a file limit? If so what is it?

3. Do 32GB SDHC cards work?

4. Is the battery in the 405 the same as the 404?

5. When you connect the 405 to a PC using the mini USB cable does it show up as a hard drive and can you access the SDHC card in the 405?

I will problably sell both my 404 and my Cowon D2 to get the 405 when/if any of these questions are answered.

Thanks for any assistant.

2 not as far as im aware, there was on older units but a workaround, you put the files in thier own sub folders and this always worked.
3 no sd slot in the hard drive version, if you want to be able to use sdhc cards then get the 2gb version
4 also unsure on this one, i think they are about the same ratings
5 if you decide to opt for the 2gb flash version then when you connect it shows up as 2 drives, one for the internal 2gb and the other for the sd card. but copying to the sd card this way is a lot slower than if you put the card directly into a sd card dongle - i have no idea why this is the case.

I've only had slow transfers when using a non SDHC SD card. The card reader dongles are faster but the SDHC cards are, IMHO, the real time saver.

I have a D2, and as I understand it the limit is 3000 files on the internal storage and 3000 on the external.

The 405 is a perfectly satisfactory unit -- I've been tempted to by one since they're really cheap right now :) But compared to the D2 I think you'll be disappointed with the battery life and the sound quality.
