Most would agree that the HDD models have to handled with care because the catastrophic effects of excessive shock and vibration can cause damage to the disk drive.

It seems the SSD models would appear to be more resilient, at the expense of storage space.

Keep in mind that if you don't buy from a retail store (even if you buy it, unopened), you may have problems getting Archos to honor their factory warranty, if you ever need an RMA.

Factory refurbished models (at archos for example) are pretty reasonable.

Hi, I've had two 4gb sd models for 2.5 yrs and had no probs at all. One a refurb from Luzerntech and another new from amazon. Recently changed battery of amazon one. Both running as well and not had any problems. Love em...
