Thanks for posting. I have an 80giger but I wish I bought the 30 so I could get the extended one for it.

Well, it shows how easy it is to access the battery, certainly, but not how to actually replace it!Hope you enjoy the video, i'm pretty sure it shows just how easy it is to change the battery on these.
I assume you have to cut the wires then solder / crimp the wires from the new battery onto the ends of the old ones? Also, the wires should be cut separately to prevent a short-circuit.
Are the 20 and 40GB models a different size to the 30GB? I'd assumed they were all "thin" models, with the hard drive increasing in capacity and replacing the old capacity as technology improved, but your site seems to imply they are "fat" models and not the same size as the 30GB. Is this right?

The 20, 40, 80 and 160 have a 2.5" HD. They are "fat models".
The 4 and 30 are based on a 1.8" HD so they are the thin models, and the battery placement is different in these.

Hi,
I am looking to do this to increase the movie watching time, i'm loving my new 4gb 605.
Has anyone done this?, did you have to cut the old battery wires as stated above, if so how did you attach the new battery?
Are the extended life batteries any good, how does the new cover that accomodates it look, not too cheap i hope?
Thanks in advance
Michael

Do a search in this 605 section for 5200mAh. In perticular look for a thread started by member soapy. It is a great thread about upgrading the battery. Good luck.
