504 VS 605 (pics)
the volume up/down button always worked for me with and without the lock
the thing is that I want my buttons on the opening of the case so I could adjust the volume without taking it out of my pocket, and also the OK button is always pressed down when the archos when its in the case the other way around because the ok button is on the corner. So the screen is always ON while its in my pocket, and that greatly reduces battery life for music playback.

That's too bad, a lil bit of a spoiler to hear. I already sold my 504 but remember the symbols are kinda like embossed on the keys that you can feel it which I've been accustomed to especially when it's dark. Hopefully, the paint does not turn out as bad as it sounds.RK wrote:Another thing I noticed, is that the buttons are bad compared to the 504, they are small the the symbols are painted on, so the markings may eventually fade away

I did notice an issue with the last model I had actually - the Archos 504 - where the paintwork was really bad. I noticed that every time you removed it from the case it would slowly wear the paintwork out - turning the grey casing white.
Was nasty. At least where the 605 is white anyway if that did happen it would certainly be less noticeable.

Here is the one designed for the iPoo, which is actually not terribly slow and has a nice big picture:
