The screen on my Archos 704TV has recently started to stop displaying anything and just go white. This happens while playing movies, music or pictures and the sound is still playing in the background when this happens. The only way to get out of this is to press the TV button on the side till the screen goes blank and then press again which returns the display to normal for a short period of time. This doesn't seem to happen when I have it in the Docking station and am outputing to the inbuilt screen. I first thought it might be a low battery issue but it is not as I have two batteries and it happens with both of them.

Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

Hey Robtek,

I just replied to your battery topic. This convinces me that both your batteries are probably flat as I had the exact same symptom until I changed the battery. Hasn't happened since (going on a year now I think). You might try checking the contacts for dirt/damage if you're sure at least one battery is good.

Thanks for the reply, I checked both batteries and the contacts seemed ok. I read somewhere that the batteries needed to be compleatly discharged occasionally so I put them both in the 704 and played music and slideshow until they flattened and then charged them up. I repeated the charge and discharge cycle a couple more time and they now seem ok. Its possible that leaving the 704 in the DVR station doesn't help as the batteries are continually being charged which proberbly doesn't do then any good,

I've had this problem also..

One way I found out so it doesn't happen is to turn the LCD brightness to the lowest setting...

It started happening after I had to replace my power adapter, the original one was 2A if I remember correctly but the replacement I got is only 1A, still charges but if batt is very low and LCD set to anything other than lowest brightness setting I sometimes get the white screen....
