What does this mean? you can play some files just fine on the TV?

If that is the case - do you get a protected message for the files that you cannot play?

Some files are protected and will ONLY play on the archos; when you try an play on tv screen goes blank; if you look at the file whilst connected to USB/PC then you might be able to see the dreaded "Protected" notation for the files that do not play.

quick fix is to get these the source for the "protected' and remove the protection with one of the many tools avail.
