I recently came up with the idea of dismantling my Archos 404 to take out the harddrive, with the goal of putting it in my aspire one netbook which has a ZIF connector. Upon removing the harddrive and seeing that it was ZIF as well, I got very excited! So I plug in the drive, boot the netbook... but the harddrive makes no noise and doesn't show up in BIOS.

Anyone know why?

The ZIF cable is fine, since I've tested it with the original SSD module and that works. I tested the Harddrive in the archos before disconnecting it. I've tried the cable both ways round, and it just refuses to see the drive. Is there some sort of protection stopping me or something like that?
