i have an old 604 wifi that threw code 1 at me a couple years back so i got an A5, that died so i though it might be nice to get the 604 going again for movies and such since i still have the DVR dock and remote. is code 1 a hard drive issue? It starts up then asks do nothing, recover or format. ive tried all and none work, i pulled the drive out to check the connection, nothing changed. if it is hard drive, is there any way i can get a new one and put the archos OS back on it?

thanks!

hmmmm
from memory, the zif cable on the 604 comes adrift and gives that error code (mine was fitted incorrectly), if you remove your battery then you will be left with the 2 inch part on the side, remove the 4 screws and take the cover off, you willl then see the drive in there.
remove the cable gently and clean it off (i think there is a plastic clip on the cable that lifts).
put it back on and try.
its been about 4 years since ive looked at my 604 but i think that was the same error i had.
if not the drives are locked to the machine, you will need to contact junior to flash a new drive for you if he is still doing it.
But tbh if the drive is gone and the age of the machine it would probo be cheaper just to get one of the newer machines as they are much cheaper now days,

It threw another code, 2 or 3 i think before i took it apart again. i was hoping i could revive it since the motherboard in my A5 died after about 2 years, thankfully the hard drive is still good!. Oh well, ill see if junior is still doing his magic.

thanks roy!
