Please give Archos an Idea what they could do to improve the Archos WIFI. without changing the hardware (software only)

Some of the things I wish they would add are below :

-Sleep function and alarm clock support
-Option to auto Resume on restart
-Flash and Java support
-active hotspot searching (signal meter updates also)
-of course some kind of calendar/dayplanner
-voip plugin
-The ability to "see" folders when you select "video" Its a pain to have to use the file browser to get there
-Option for an automatic connection in hard disk mode when you connect the 604 with the computer via usb
-Fix the battery status display to reflect a more true reading and warn the user of a low battery condition.
-The ability to "bookmark" network folders

This thread should be a sticky!

I'd be happy with:

- Ability to stream live webcasts and MP3/WMA/WMV streams over wifi internet connection.
- Ability to subscribe to podcasts and update/download over wifi (rather than sync when connected to PC via USB).

I'm 85% certain to buy a 604 Wifi when they come to the UK - these features would seal the deal.

Support for VOIP, specifically Skype, which already comes with a Linux client, so in theory shouldn't be difficult to implement. Then add a helmet camcorder to it and you have a video conferencing solution for the living room ...

Or think about it ... streaming live media when you are at an airport lounge wandering around .... ;-)

VOIP support would be amazing.
NTFS external drive support would be a good one too.
Bluetooth - via a dongle?

I'm actually using a bluetooth dongle so to speak with my 604 Wifi. It's awsome. The only thing better would be if it was built in. The small wireless headphones will pair with up to 10 different items and when your cellphone rings, it mutes the music so you can talk, then comes back on when you hang up. I'll post a link.

The audio is coming out the headphone jack.
The audio streamer is a small disc that plugs into the earphone jack. The streamer can stream both audio out and mic at the same time. If at anytime Archos makes a bluetooth adapter the headphones will pair with it. The Streamer works great for skype also.

I carry the 604 in a pouch along with the streamer and cellphone. When the phone rings it mutes the 604 and you tap your ear and it answers the call. Another tap hangs up and turns the audio back on. Tap of another button calls the last number you dialed. The life of the batteries is roughly the same as the 604. Battery packs easily snap on and off

I can put the pouch down and walk aprox 30 feet away before it starts to break up. If I put it in the living room which is central, I can walk through the whole house. Headphones are very light and not bulky. As a bonus, the audio/mic cord that comes with the headphones works with the archos audio/video out.
Bluetooth

-Ability to toggle the touch screen on and off (sometimes I bump the touchscreen when listening to music and it causes the battery to die faster)

-Ability to toggle the keyboard when searching for an artist/album/title of a song. So if you want to go to Rob Zombie, you could toggle the keyboard and start typing "Ro". Then it would jump to that area in the list narrowing it down with each letter typed.

-Play a random song... so when you want to start listening to music you dont have to find a song, just click on Play Random.

-Queue Next or Queue List, when going through your music library while playing music in the background and find a song or songs you want to play next you can click queue next or add it to the queue list. Basically it is a temp playlist.

Thats all I have right now.

-The Endless Loop-

I would like to be able to browse the web while listening to music as you can while browsing your photos, this may be a hardware limitation but i think it should be possible with a firmware adjustment.

defenitly needs flash and some java support, the ability to surf you tube and the such as well as play little flash games with the use of the stylus would be a major benefit for this player.

voip would be prety rad

i pretty much agree with any additional functions, the more the merrier

Do the Archos developers read this forum ?
Does any of you have a contact in archos ?

On some other BBs developers or specialist from key companies often participate and provide feeback to the comunity on what is going on.

Thoughts?

A.

Notepad with handwriting recognition? Although that's mostly software, I'm sure.

RTM :)

P.3 "TV/LCD Button: Press once to switch the display of the image between TV and built-in LCD screen. Press and hold to lock the buttons of your ARCHOS device"

Can't say how well this works though, as I don't have mine yet :/

The headphone output on the 604WiFi is really low. Can you give a bit more information about what product you are using as an audio streamer. It sounds like exactly what I need. I thought about the Turtle Beach products but I'm not sure the 604 will recognize any of them. They are USB, but of course not mass storgare. Listening with headphones is almost a waste at this point due to the low output.

Thanks in advance.
